ADDITIONAL MEDICAL

INFORMATION

All GNSW State Teams travel to the Australian Championships with access to medical support. Athletes benefit from having a dedicated medical professional as a member of the travelling team to manage athlete requirements that occur as a result of competition and training at the event.

During competition and training, a Gymnastics Australia appointed doctor will be in attendance. All Team Members (athletes, coaches and officials) are required to provide GNSW with their Medicare number. Gymnasts that require services from the GA doctor must see the State Team Physio first. GNSW will be sending a Physio Team with Support Staff to treat NSW team members and these costs will be levied to each athlete. If you have a competing athlete under 18, your Team Manager will contact you if there are any concerns or medical attention is required.

To ensure all athletes and treating practitioners feel comfortable when getting treatment at the accommodation the following guidelines will be observed:

  • All athletes over the age of 18 should attend with another athlete or chaperone/coach

  • All athletes under the age of 18 but 16 or older must attend with another athlete (older than 16) or a chaperone/coach

  • All athletes under the age of 16 must attend with a chaperone/coach

  • If any athlete feels uncomfortable, for any reason, in regards to accessing treatment at either the venue or accommodation should speak to one or more of the following - coach, chaperone, head of delegation or head of physiotherapy

Strapping Tape
All athletes MUST bring their own supply of medical strapping tape. State team medical personnel only carry emergency supplies.
